Hairdorables by Just Play are the newest blind box dolls to hit the toy shelves. They debuted on August 1st. Hairdorables combine two of my favorite things: mini dolls and blind boxes. Intrigued, I pre-ordered two of them from Target.com. Before I received my dolls, I had to be content with checking out the Hairdorables website. There wasn’t much content posted yet, but I did take the quiz to find out which Hairdorables girl I was most like. Here is the result of my quiz:

I’m a dreamer AND a princess!

Hot on the heels of LOL Surprise, Hairdorables take the blind box to a whole new level. The box is much larger than the average blind box.

It opens up into two halves, like an armoire. One side holds the four accessories boxes while the other side houses the doll. Once the doll is opened, the box doubles as a set for your Hairdorables doll. How clever!

I think the main reason why Hairdorables appeal to me is that they remind me of the little dolls of my childhood. They’re like a cross between Liddle Kiddles and Upsy Downsy dolls. Even the illustrations on the box remind me of the trippy children’s book- and toy illustrations of my childhood. Check out the illustration on the pamphlet that comes with the doll.

So colorful! It’s like Lisa Frank meets Little Kiddles

There are thirty-six Hairdorables dolls in all – three each of the twelve Hairdorable characters that encompass a wide range of personalities, interests, and hobbies. They’re all cute, but I was hoping that, out of all of them, I’d get the doll with the blue hair and skateboard that features so prominently in the publicity photos. Notice how she’s front and center on the brochure. Did I mention she has a skateboard?!

The left side of the box contains the first four blind boxes containing the accessories.

Box 1: Hair we go!

It’s a hair comb!

Box 2: You go curl!

It’s a cool pair of boots.

Box 3: ❤️ Ur Style[[[[[[[[[[[[

It’s a tablet.
Box 4: Sheer genius
IS THAT A SKATEBOARD?!
Each box also comes with a sticker

So far it’s looking pretty good that I got Noah. The skateboard pretty much gives it away. Now all that’s left is to open the box with the doll.

Saving the best for last

Look, Noah is on the wrapper on the front of the box that contains the doll. Does the wrapper give the surprise away, or is Noah on all the wrappers?

I did get Noah!

Wow, I did get Noah! What are the chances? Here are her deets on the little card that came with her.

Teal blue is my favorite color too!

Here is a closeup of the brochure that comes with all the dolls. It shows the three versions of each Hairdorables character. I got Sk8r Noah!

The heart next to the character indicates that this is the signature look for the character. As with all blind boxes, there are also rare and super-rare Hairdorables to be had.

Noah fresh out of the box. She sure has a lot of hair.
Are those cake pops?

The Hairdorables artwork is super-cute. There are a number of different backgrounds in rotation. The artwork for Noah’s box shows a coffee shop. Here’s Noah skateboarding inside the coffee shop. I’m calling it Hairbucks.

No skating inside Hairbucks!

As I mentioned above, I purchased two Hairdorables. My second Hairdorable is Rayne Bow. She has rainbow hair and wears roller skates. Hmmm, skateboards and roller skates – I’m sensing a theme here. Rayne comes with an all-day-sucker lollipop, and her interior box is in the form of a study area with a little desk. The peel-off lid for the box containing Rayne was the same as the box containing Noah, so it looks like all the lids for the doll feature Noah. However, the lids for the four accessories boxes for Rayne were different from Noah’s.

First name: Rayne. Last name: Bow.

Hairdorables are fun for all ages. There are a wide variety of personalities, skills, and interests, so there’s a Hairdorables (or two) for everyone.  They’re fun, they’re colorful, they’re Hairdorable!

Let’s roll!

What do you think of Hairdorables? Would you buy one?
